Accomplishments have led to invitations to speak internationally in venues that include the White House Conference Center, The World CIO Forum, The Office of the CIO of the U.S. Department of Defense, The National Association of State CIOs, and many other professional organizations and corporations. Built and directed a new innovative enterprise architecture center with a dual education and research mission. Raised over $25 million in grants, cash, hardware, and software to support the educational and research missions of the center. Built an international membership base for the center consisting of over seventy leading corporations, government bodies, and professional associations. The center consists of twenty seven core and affiliated faculty from several countries. Received the NPA Career Achievement Award for efforts related to the building of this unique center and associated educational initiatives.

Led efforts to build a first-of-its-kind, online professional masters degree program in Enterprise Architecture and served as the program director. Led all aspects of the program, from the design and development of the professional masters program and associated courses, to the recruiting and marketing for the program. The program has received international recognition from numerous organizations. Led efforts to build a first-of-its-kind undergraduate enterprise architecture degree program. Designed, developed, and taught a number of professional education and senior executive education programs. Many of these professional education courses involved partnerships with leading corporations such as Gartner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Oracle, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, DHL, and others. Launched a new undergraduate student interest club in enterprise architecture with a $25,000 corporate gift. Led undergraduate honors thesis projects related to enterprise architecture. Chaired and served on numerous masters and PhD thesis committees.

Founded the Federation of Enterprise Architecture Professional Organizations (FEAPO), a unique international organization established to foster collaboration and communication between the many professional organizations in the enterprise architecture field. FEAPO consists of twenty-two leading professional organizations and has received international acclaim for its contribution to the field. Served as the elected president of this organization. Led efforts to build an international faculty community in enterprise architecture currently consisting of universities from over fifteen countries.

Led cutting-edge research initiatives in enterprise architecture value measurement and enterprise architecture framework development and usage. Formed research collaborations with professional organizations and universities from around the globe. Invited to create an enterprise architecture special interest group and associated set of educational materials for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Currently leading efforts to create a new enterprise architecture research journal and an associated conference in collaboration with IEEE, ACM, and the Open Group. Leading an enterprise architecture career path development research project in conjunction with the National Defense University and U.S. Department of Defense. Invited to serve on the professional education standards committee of the International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3), a prestigious international consortium affiliated with the United Nations.

Received numerous invitations internationally to speak about the center, the process by which it was developed and funded, and associated programs and initiatives. Speaking venues included The White House Conference Center, The Word CIO Forum, The British Computer Society, The Gartner Symposium, and many others. Invited to serve on several international professional boards and committees. The Center for Enterprise Architecture has been the topic of several magazine articles, press releases, podcasts, blogs, and television interviews and has attracted strong international interest.

Initiated and directed the creation of a new inter-college research and education group. Formed an advisory group for the initiative consisting of leading corporations, government organizations, and industry associations. The initial advisory group contained over one hundred individuals representing fifty-two organizations and seven countries. Raised over $500,000 in cash for the start-up phase of the initiative. The Enterprise Architecture Initiative focused on four primary areas: (1) creation of a new undergraduate degree program, (2) creation of a new online professional masters program, (3) creation of a new enterprise architecture research center, and (4) creation of a portfolio of professional development courses in the area of enterprise architecture. Member of the Board of Trustees for the Center for the Advancement of the Enterprise Architecture Profession and Co-chair of the Academic Alliance Committee for the Special Interest Group on Enterprise Architecture for the Industry Advisory Council of the US Federal Government.

Supported the creation of experiential curricular components involving Pennsylvania companies. The grant also supported extended student internship opportunities with Pennsylvania companies.

Information Technology Workforce Development, Pennsylvania Department of Education, 1999 Principle investigator on a two-year grant totaling $750,000. Supported creation of innovative, real-world experiential curricular components for use in a newly created IT curriculum. The grant also supported the creation of IT facilities needed to support the experiential curricular components. This award was the third largest in Pennsylvania and involved more external partnering organizations than any other competing institution.
